Philip H. Anselmo & The Illegals, one of former Pantera and current Down/Superjoint frontman Phil Anselmo's projects, is set to release their second album, "Choosing Mental Illness as a Virtue", according to Phil's Housecore Records webpage.
The project's first album, "Walk Through Exits Only", was released in 2013 and sold around 8,700 copies in its first week. The album was produced by Anselmo and Michael Thompson and was recorded over a period of several years at Anselmo's famous Nosferatu's Lair in New Orleans, LA.
Anselmo said in an interview with Yahoo! Music in 2014 that the next album would be very different from the first. He went on record saying, "I feel like every solo effort should be different. That's a rule in my house under this particular roof. I don't want to regurgitate a damn thing I've done in the past."
"Maybe I might touch on certain things, and in a lot of ways, there's no getting around the voice because my voice is my voice," he explained. "But you can express different musical influences from generations of music. I can do anything I want with The Illegals. It's my band."
No official date has been set as of now, but I am, of course, always eager for new work by Phil.
